Big K is a brand specialized in the manufacturing of charcoal and charcoal briquettes. It was founded in 1964 when its founder, Theodoros Kleanthous, immigrated from Cyprus to the United Kingdom. He brought with him his passion for food but struggled to find quality charcoal, which is the most important element in Greek cuisine. Quickly, he imported no less than 10 tons of charcoal from Cyprus. The word spread and many wanted to get some. This is how the company Kleanthous & Son was born. In 1967, the father was joined by his son and continued to grow the family business. It was in 1981 that the company as it is today was created. Renamed Big K, it also changed its logo. Since then, it has constantly evolved and innovated to become the leader in the manufacturing of charcoal for restaurant professionals.
